Drawing is a crucial part of all the Academy’s graduation programmes. Drawing from observation, exploratory or design drawing and drawing as an autonomous artistic practice form red threads throughout the programme. The practice of and thinking about drawing is not only addressed in the lessons, but also in events such as the Drawing Marathon, research projects, exhibitions and publications.
Every two years, the 24-hour Drawing Marathon is organised throughout the Academy’s premises. All students, teachers, staff and the public find their way to pencil and paper, to the exciting models and unique atmosphere during this temporary drawing craze. Since a few years there is also live streaming with foreign schools of art: the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia (2018) and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston (2020).
Next Drawing Marathon: 27-28 February 2025. Save the date!
