The Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts will soon blow out 360 candles. So you can already imagine how many students in recent years - and centuries! – have been sent here and have exchanged the studios and classrooms for a career in the arts sector or the cultural field.

We like to put a spotlight on our alumni, whether recently graduated or having left the schools years or decades ago.

  • Our Fashion alumna Shayli Harrison is soaring high with her Antwerp-based digi-physical fashion brand MUTANI. The brand interwove the virtual with reality in a live motion-captured hologram performance for the second edition of FUTURE FRONT ROW at Digital Fashion Week NYC 2024. More info HERE!
  • Three of our alumni are mentioned in Flanders DCs "20 to watch (2024)". In this list you get to meet twenty designers who recently took their first steps in the worlds of design and fashion – and who we believe will have great success in the future. So keep your eyes open for news from and on Florentina Leitner, Yanze Jin (Yentsé) and Erin Helsen (The Promise)! More info HERE!
  • Alina Cristea published an artist book in June 2023, available at the Copyright Bookshop and in the library of the Royal Academy! In Micronarratives and the City. An Annotated Map of Bucharest, three contributors explore (micro)situations witnessed in the city and map spatial experiences and wanderings through the city of Bucharest through photography, text, drawing, film, and various mixed media. Alina Cristea applies her own artistic research and practice from 'Bucharest. The City with One Inhabitant. The City-Me', Mira Sanders introduces the act of drawing to represent and explore ways to have spatial experiences, and Ileana Marin examines the creative power of wandering in the city through a selection of Romanian literary works. Rather than aiming for an exact representation of Bucharest, the book makes sidenotes of its urban qualities and to what extent the authors’ actions reveal (or not) the features of the city. Available via this link!
  • Congratulations to alumna Sculpture Pauline Debrichy for securing a residency at the Académie des beaux-arts, in collaboration with Cité internationale des arts. More info can be found HERE!
  • Sometimes our alumni don't go very far and even help out the Academy with its communication. Thank you Stephanie Specht and Yanis Berrewaert, for your beautiful art work!
  • Fashion alumnus Cedric Jacquemyn and co-founder Quinten Schaap recently launched Bakermat, a "symbiosis between a textile shop, virtual fabric library and material agency; a place where your artistic vision meets the industry’s newest innovations." Read all about it below!
  • Fashion alumnus Igor Dieryck is proud to share his new collaboration with Komono for the 38th Festival of Hyères! They worked together on a revisited version of his frame in a more wearable shape. Congratulations!
