Master in Dance

The Master in Dance is a two-year part-time programme delivered in 6 modules for a total of 60 ECTS-credits. Each module consists of 2 courses and lasts two to three weeks focussed on collective time, guided by guest lecturers and artists. The courses consist of workshops around dance, dramaturgy, sound, curation, and scenography, among others. Through an ‘expanded’ approach, the Master in Dance questions the whole theatre apparatus.

Presence in Antwerp for these modules is mandatory. In between the modules, you are supported through residency time to work on your individual research questions. While the programme focuses on the individual practice and research of each student, it also relates them to current developments in the arts as well as in society. 

The Master in Dance is only accessible if you meet the diploma and language requirements and pass the audition. More information can be found on this page.

Bridging and preparatory programme

In order to enter the master programme, it is obligatory to follow the bridging/preparatory programme of 45 ECTS-credits. Although the Master in Dance is a part-time programme, you should note that additional teaching weeks will be added to the programme. As a result, the modules of the master will be extended by 2 or 3 extra weeks.

In Belgium and The Netherlands, there is a distinction between an academic and a professional bachelor. Due to this difference, the bridging and preparatory programme differ in terms but not in content.

You can follow the bridging/preparatory programme and the master's programme at the same time, but only after passing the audition for the Master in Dance. Depending on your previous education, you can apply for exemptions to reduce your study load.
