Even before the public presentation had taken place, it was already clear that Another Sacre would be much more than the final performance of last year's Bachelor Dance students. The concept, the music, the coaching, the talent and the ideas of the students, They managed to embody all of it in this one final performance. And not only the jury thought so.
Shortly after the public examination in the Conservatoire, for which places were taken in no time at all, the real work began. Various festivals and cultural centres programmed the performance and tickets sold out quickly. On Saturday 25 September, the for the time being final performance will take place. The students return to Antwerp for the occasion, where Toneelhuis invited them to the festival of (new) makers in the Bourla.
Another Sacre
What can you expect if you were able to secure a ticket? Or what have you missed if you couldn't be there? In Another Sacre, twelve dancers move through Stravinsky's famous composition Le Sacre du Printemps in their own unique way. They dance together with one goal: to vibrate together.
Together with coaches Alain Platel and Bérengère Bodin, the 12 students went in search of their guilty pleasures. After a lonely year, both physically and mentally, the artists were challenged to immerse themselves in their personal dance history. They went back to where their love for dance originated and integrated influences from hip-hop, tango, classical ballet, folk ... in Another Sacre.
