De tentoonstelling IN KLEINE LETTERS: traces and records is een dialoog van acht In Situ studenten van de Koninklijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten Antwerpen met het Couwelaarsgebouw. Deze beschermde Deurnese stadsbibliotheek werd ontworpen in 1967 door Jul de Roover, die als voormalig docent architectuur aan de Academie ook het interieur van de schoolbibliotheek vormgaf. De geëxposeerde werken reflecteren op de ruimte zelf, de werking van de bibliotheek, het gebruik van boeken en de uiteenlopende vormen van lezen en archiveren. De interventies zijn verweven in het dagelijks ritme van de bibliotheek, verstopt tussen de boeken op de planken, in de gangpaden en op de muren van het gebouw.
Deelnemende studenten: Alexander Gdanietz, Elodie Vreeburg, Esther Peronnet, Gabriel Siams, Hannah Van houcke, Inês Tinoco, Wen Qing Cao, Wouter Warnier.
Opening: 30 april om 18:00 uur.
De tentoonstelling is te bezoeken tijdens de openingsuren van de bibliotheek, tot en met 21 mei.

For the exhibition IN KLEINE LETTERS: traces and records, eight students of the In Situ department at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp made works in response to the site of the library in Deurne, the Couwelaar building, designed by Jul de Roover in 1967. He was a former architecture student and teacher at the Academy and drew also the plans for the interior of the Academy’s library. The exhibited works reflect on these spaces, operational aspects of the library, the use of books and forms of reading and archiving. You can find the interventions integrated in the daily operation of the library amongst the books on the shelves, in the aisles and on the walls of the building.
