Maarten Mozes Degraeuwe (°1992, New York) is an actor and a maker. His parents often changed countries, and Degraeuwe has a split American/Belgian nationality. In Primary school in Oosterzele he once played a larger than life crocodile, and he exited high school with a theatre-piece on propaganda, commercials and Freud’s pleasure principle. During this process, he discovered that theatre is a medium that allows profound research of the human core. In 2017 he graduated from the master year acting at the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp. In 2017-2018 he worked at the Monty as part of the Montignards-residency. On the Love At First Sight Festival he was involved in ‘Stemlozen’ by the Antwerp collective Il Brigata, and ‘De Hoofden’ by his Monty colleague Christiaan Mariman. From 2018 onwards, Degraeuwe focusses on Il Brigata. In 2019-2020, he has some guest appearances in the Flemish series ’GR5’, and in ‘De Lokvogel’ and ‘Human Landscapes II’ at the Kaaitheater.
