Neal Leemput (°1990) is a performance artist, theater maker and artistic researcher. He graduated at the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp with the performances Beerdigung eines denkenden Körpers – Der Titel ist schöner auf Deutsch (2013) and Het Joachim Flaxer Complex (2014). In 2015, he made The Waxworks, together with Charlotte Anne Bogaerts and Danny de Jong, a theatrical performance inspired by Sunset Boulevard (a film noir by Billy Wilder). And as a resident during the Villanova Festival in DeStudio, Antwerp, he created Always The Tragic (2016).
Currently, he is working on a research project concerning the legibility of non-normative body images, using Rainer Werner Fassbinder’s work as a guideline. In the context of this project he created a performance, Everything I’ve always wanted – and more (2017), and a video-installation Selfless Dreams/Queer Confessions. A new performance The Good People will premiere in april 2018.
