Opus V

The relationship between life and death is a subject that has occupied the arts and philosophy for centuries. It is closely related to the concept of entropy, declaring that "entropy is perceived as the gradual or sudden destruction of inviolate object".

The aim of this research is to create a contemporary sculptural representation of this problem. The sculptural language developed by Athar Jaber in previous images, mainly bodies, is applied on the head and face.

The research is situated within the broad context of diverse theories about entropy and the human condition. On the basis of professional literature, collections, exhibitions, photographs, film stills and audio fragments, a visual archive on distortion of the head and face, caused by various circumstances, is drawn.
