-- CALL FOR AN ALTERNATIVE – TRIBUTE TO JOSEPH BEUYS
A short but powerful tribute to Joseph Beuys, born 100 years ago – focusing on his role as an artist-pedagogue and ecological activist – with a documentary exhibition, lecture and discussion evening.
In collaboration with Het Bos and Coppejans Gallery.
-- PHOTO/SPACE – PIETER HUYBRECHTS
This solo presentation is a first step in Pieter Huybrechts’ research project at the Academy, in which he challenges the conventional exhibition logic of photographic images by exploring new possibilities.
-- OVERLAP – THE EXPO
After the book ‘OVERLAP: the No Man's Land between Art & Science’, the Young Academy presents an exhibition which brings 15 artists into dialogue with 15 scientific objects.
-- NAUGHTY KIDS – PUNK IN ANTWERP
Three years after ‘Naughty Kids’ the Academy and Track Report present a book that documents this remarkable exhibition. With screening of the documentary film ‘Anarchy & Attitude. Punk in Antwerp 1980-1990’.
-- OCCUPIED CITY
100 Years after the first publication of ‘Occupied City’ by Paul Van Ostaijen, the BA3 Photography students of the Academy revisit this iconic work and occupy the windows of Sint-Jorispoort.
In the context of ‘Van Ostaijen Leeft’ and in collaboration with Het Letterenhuis.
-- ACADEMY OPEN AIR. HISTORIE, HEESTERS EN MEESTERS
In the spring of 2021, the Academy Garden will be reactivated as an exhibition space. Students present works that dare to enter into a dialogue with this special environment.
-- THE IDEAL STUDIO
Students of the Academy join hearts, hands and minds to facilitate collective projects trough student initiation.
